Enhancing Agricultural Causes through Generosity
A Legacy of Fred Wells

Upon his passing, Mr. Wells wished to promote Agricultural Causes and his will established a fund to award grants in support of agriculture among other areas.

Successful awardees will demonstrate that their application qualifies under the terms of that portion of Mr.  Fred Wells' will which states in part that grants will be given annually to “some agricultural group or groups organized primarily for the advancement of agriculture to be given by them under general rules made by the trustees as prizes for the most outstanding accomplishments in agriculture for the year. Said accomplishments to be of general or average results from a year or season’s efforts, taking into consideration cost and practical results rather than individual specimens; competition to be open to any resident of Franklin County but at least fifty percent of total prizes…shall be given for work of boys or girls under twenty-one years of age.”

The application, along with two complete copies of all required material, must be submitted before the posted deadline.  Decisions on grants will be made in May and notification will be made to successful applicants.

Only complete applications that are received timely shall be considered. In order for an application to be deemed complete, please submit this cover sheet along with the following:

  1. The current budget, income and expenses from your most recent fiscal year.
